General information:
In conjunction with BNSSG CCG, we have arranged for a motivational interviewing training course to be run for all GPNs in Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire this October and November. It will be delivered and facilitated by Behaviour Change Training (BCT).
Open for up to 18 individuals, the course will consist of:
- 2 x self-directed, 2-hour-long online modules
- 3 x 1-hour-long facilitated workshops
This will all focus on skills development and encourage you to reflect on current practice, making it appropriate for all general practice nurses, regardless of experience.
The online modules:
These can be completed at your leisure, at a time of your choosing — so long as the first module is completed in October, and the second in November.
The workshop in October focuses on Patient-Centred Communication, and upon completion, you will be able to:
- Explain how good communication skills can influence everyday practice for both practitioners and patients, thereby improving outcomes
- Observe and accurately label related skills within a well-defined model
- Plan next steps to implement the skills learnt in practice
- And more…
The November workshop will revolve around Enhancing Patient Motivation, and will aid participants in:
- Defining motivation and motivational interviewing
- Identifying the skills and strategies required to use motivational interviewing
- Acknowledging the complexities of influencing motivation
